We call the high alumina refractory with mullite as the main crystalline phase mullite brick thermal insulation bricks, divided into heavy brick and light brick. Generally, the alumina content is between 65% and 75%. In addition to mullite, the lower alumina also contains a small amount of glass phase and calcite. The higher alumina content also contains a small amount of corundum. Different types of bricks have different production techniques and application.

Heavy mullite brick:
Refractory bricks made from sintered or fused mullite may be made entirely from mullite, or partly from mullite and partly from corundum. The former is called mullite brick, the latter corundum one-mullite brick or mullite one-corundum brick. The production process of mullite brick is the same as that of high alumina brick. The firing temperature is related to the composition of ingredients, the purity of raw materials and the requirements on the properties of bricks, usually 1500 ~ 1700℃. The crystallization of fused mullite brick is larger than that of sintered mullite brick and the thermal shock resistance is better than that of sintered mullite brick. Advantages are: high fire resistance, up to 1790℃ above, load softening temperature 1600-1700℃, room temperature compressive strength 70-260mpa, excellent thermal shock resistance. It is mainly used in hot blast furnace top, blast furnace body and bottom, glass melting furnace regenerator, ceramic sintering furnace, dead corner lining of petroleum cracking system, etc.

Light mullite brick:
Mullite light insulation brick is made of high quality high purity refractory, high alumina clinker as raw material according to the specific gravity of the product, adding organic composite filler, after vacuum extrusion, high temperature sintering synthesis of light mullite products. By virtue of its light weight and excellent thermal insulation performance, mullite light thermal insulation brick is widely used in a variety of thermal surface refractory lining or insulation layer, to improve the energy efficiency of equipment.
